Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has long distinguished herself as a rabid Jew hater, which notably hasn’t hurt her reputation in the Democratic Party or the mainstream media. I imagine Omar was truly honored to have been named the “2019 Antisemite of the Year,” and she has continuously promulgated antisemitic tropes, the most famous being: “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.” That infamous tweet referred to a conversation about Israel having “hypnotized” the world and allegedly taking control of Congress because of wealthy Jewish lobbyist organizations.
It turns out Omar and her husband, former political consultant Tim Mynett, are quite the authorities on the rapid accumulation of Benjamins – possibly as many as 300,000 of those bills bearing the likeness of Benjamin Franklin. The Washington Free Beacon reported today that Omar’s financial disclosures reveal the couple’s net worth at the end of 2024 ranged from at least $6 million to $30 million. Their wealth is derived almost entirely from the value of Mynett’s ownership stake in his two companies that, together, were worth no more than $51,000 at the end of 2023.

Lawmakers can disclose their holdings in broad ranges, so we don’t know if Omar is worth as much as $30 million or as little as $6 million. Even if it’s the lower amount, Omar has suddenly accumulated an impressive nest egg for a “public servant” who is all of 42 years old. To put Omar’s net worth into perspective: Senator Bernie Sanders, an avowed “Democratic Socialist,” is only worth an estimated $3 million — and he’s spent more than two decades in Congressional public service.
That Omar is worth at least $6 million underscores another disturbing truth about Omar: she’s an unabashed liar.
Back in February, when a report surfaced that Omar was worth $83 million, she tweeted: “I barely have thousands let alone millions.” While the $83 million figure proved an exaggeration, Omar’s claim to scraping by with a net worth of “barely” thousands was also untrue. Her Congressional salary alone is $174,000, which comes from U.S. taxpayers and not Somalia, whose interests Omar is on record as saying are her primary concern.

Misrepresenting her wealth is hardly the only instance of Omar’s dishonesty. Mynett and Omar are both adulterers, but when Mynett’s former wife disclosed in a divorce filing that he was having an affair with Omar, she flat out denied the allegation. They were married months later.
While they were allegedly romantically involved, Omar’s campaign paid Mynett’s political consulting firm $586,000 for a range of services that included digital advertising, fundraising consulting, digital communications and design. The campaign also paid $7,000 to Mynett directly for fundraising consulting before hiring his consulting firm.
Payments to the firm in the 2019-2020 cycle for Omar’s reelection campaign comprised 40 percent of total campaign expenses, federal filings revealed.
Given Omar’s repeated references to her Somalian background and loyalty, it’s fair game to mention that adultery in some parts of Somalia is still punishable with death by stoning.

Then there’s Omar’s oft-repeated likely false tale of American racism, cruelty, and injustice – as recounted by the far-left Washington Post no less.
Omar said that while working for a Minneapolis city councilman who asked her to report back on problems with the courts, she recalled encountering a “sweet, old . . . African American lady” who had been arrested for stealing a $2 loaf of bread to feed her “starving 5-year-old granddaughter.”
After spending the weekend in jail, the woman was led into the courtroom and fined $80 — a penalty she couldn’t pay. “I couldn’t control my emotions,” Omar continued, “because I couldn’t understand how a roomful of educated adults could do something so unjust.”
“Bulls—!” she recalled yelling in the courtroom.
Even the Post said it was likely Omar embellished her facts. Minneapolis officials said that police aren’t allowed to arrest people for shoplifting unless there’s a likelihood of violence or further crime. Typically, shoplifters are sentenced to attend a three-hour class.
More Ethical Issues

Almost from the get-go, Omar has been accused of ethically challenged behavior. In 2019, Minnesota campaign finance officials said Omar misused campaign funds in violation of state rules. They also revealed that she had filed joint tax returns with her husband years before they were legally married and at a time when she was married to another man.
Omar accompanied Tahir Javed, a Pakistani-American businessman, influential Democratic Party donor, and liaison for Pakistan-US relations, on a 2022 controversial trip to Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied but Indian-claimed Azad Kashmir, a flashpoint territory ruled by religious extremists
A year later, Omar visited Qatar to view the World Cup – a junket partially paid for by the Qatar government. Two months prior to that visit, Omar and other House Democrats signed a letter of “dismay” about the International Association Football Federation’s “inaction and heel-dragging on human rights abuses in Qatar.”

In 2021, the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) named Omar the American Muslim Public Servant of 2021. CAIR is a leading American Islamist organization that the UAE designated as a terrorist organization in 2015. In the 2018 election cycle, Omar received multiple donations from CAIR officials.
It was in an address to a CAIR meeting that Omar famously referred to 9/11 as “Some people did something.”
There’s long been speculation about Omar having engaged in immigration, marriage fraud, and bigamy to enter the U.S. The mainstream media dismisses the allegations as right-wing conspiracy theories, but if you’re interested, here’s the basis for the speculation. Omar has previously dismissed the allegations as “lies.”
The Squad Contrast

One wonders whether Omar will get booted from the Squad, given that fellow squadster Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are hopscotching the country on private jets and flying first class to attend “Fighting Oligarchy” rallies. AOC is a pauper compared to Omar.
AOC’s recent financial disclosures listed $15,000 to $50,000 in a savings account and $1,000 to $15,000 in a checking account. She also reported $1,000 to $15,000 in a 401(k) from the National Hispanic Institute, where she worked as educational director before joining Congress.
AOC declared less than $1,000 in a brokerage account. Notably absent from her disclosure: any sign of her partner of more than ten years, fiancé Riley Roberts.
Ocasio-Cortez, 35, came under fire from the House Ethics Committee last month for calling Roberts, 37, her “spouse” on some ethics forms to receive perks such as travel and gala access, while leaving him off financial disclosures so she wouldn’t have to reveal his assets.
Omar’s Shred of Honesty
Credit Omar with her one shred of honesty. The young firebrand entered Congress promising justice and has already amassed more Benjamins than most Americans will ever see. Right from the get-go, Omar admitted what she valued most.
